Dixie Gatchel's Swing in Van Lierop Park
This walk is in memory of Pat Patterson, "Mr. IVV", a member of Daffodil Valley. It is also an introduction to Daffodil Valley's new year-round event offered this Saturday, only, from the Elks. You will visit the new Van Lierop Park and walk on the western section of the Foothills Trail, passing local farmland. If the weather cooperates, see Mt. Rainier in the distance from Dixie Gatchel's swing. Dixie was a long-time supporter of the Foothills Trail and other trails in the area.
Water and restrooms at the start/finish. Pets permitted but not in building(s). Owners are responsible for leash and cleanup laws. The trail, itself, is suitable for strollers or wheelchairs, but wheelchairs may have difficulty getting from the start uphill on Shaw Road to the trail. The trail will be minimally marked, but walkers will receive walk directions and map.
This is volkssport sanctioned walk, rated 1A. Credit fees to stamp your record books are $4. We ask for a donation otherwise to help support walks such as this. All must register, carry and return a start card.
LOCATION: Puyallup Elks Lodge #1450

FINISH TIME: 3pm
DISTANCE: 10KM (6.2 miles), 5KM (3.1 miles)
DIRECTIONS: From I-5: Take exit #127, Puyallup/SR 512, going east past Puyallup onto SR167 N. Stay in right lane to SR410/Sumner. Take 1st exit (E. Main & Traffic Ave.) Turn right onto E. Main and stay in right lane. Right on 27th NE to Elks parking lot.
From I-405: Take exit #2/SR167 Auburn. Take SR410/Sumner exit. Stay right and take 1st exit (E. Main & Traffic Ave.) Continue as above.
